What is a PCR test?

A PCR test is performed in a laboratory and is indicative of an individual’s COVID status at the time their sample is taken. It does not show previous infection. PCR tests are internationally recognised as the gold standard for COVID-19 testing by World Health Organisation (WHO) and the backbone of every government’s national testing program.

How long will the test take?

Your sample will be collected by one of our trained healthcare professionals using a nasopharyngeal (nose and throat) swab, the process should take no more than 5 minutes.

How do I know if I need a COVID-19 PCR Test to Travel?

Check the latest guidance and travel advice from the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs at https://www.dfa.ie/travel/travel-advice/. If beginning your journey from Northern Ireland, you can check the entry requirements for your destination online at https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice. The EU have introduced a traffic light system that requires pre-flight testing for individuals departing from several countries. You can view the latest travel restrictions online at https://reopen.europa.eu/en. Due to the constantly changing global environment entry requirements are subject to change, so keep checking in the weeks and days leading up to your trip.

What should I bring to my appointment?

On the day of your appointment, please present yourself to our drive through swab centre at Shinagh House, Bandon, Co. Cork no more than 5 minutes before your appointment time. You must provide confirmation of your booking, photographic ID (a passport if travelling), and please wear your mask.

I haven’t received my results, who do I contact?

Please check your spam folder. If using a work or university email, please check your server hasn’t restricted our emails, as your results will have an attachment.

If you haven’t received your results by 11.59pm the day after your appointment you can phone our dedicated customer support team with your reference number on 021 7355430 or email us on info@geomeddiagnostics.com.

Can I Cancel my Appointment and get a Refund?

Appointments, if not attended, can be cancelled with a refund issued. We would request as a courtesy that customers contact us 24 hrs ahead of the original appointment date/time regarding any rescheduling requests. Please email info@geomeddiagnostics.com to cancel your appointment and request a refund.

Can Children under 16 get tested ?

Yes

From what age does an adult have to be present with a child who is attending for a test?

If under the age of 16 , a person cannot book a test themselves and will need an adult present with them during the test.

Before booking your test if travelling...

Please ensure to check HSE guidelines & Department of foreign affairs. The Cert is valid for 72 hours from when you had the test, again if travelling please calculate out your travel times to ensure you meet this criteria.
